🌱 Whitetail Institute Ravish Radish – 2.5 lb
Coverage: about ¼ acre
Type: annual (plant every year)
Best use: fall / late-season deer attraction
🌿 What it is
A forage radish (brassica) blend with proprietary varieties like WINA‑412 radish
Designed specifically for deer attraction and nutrition
👉 Unlike Fusion (clover/chicory perennial), this is a fast-growing annual planted for fall hunting season.
🔥 Key benefits
Fast germination — sprouts in about a week
Extreme attraction from early fall through winter
Produces:
Leafy tops (early food)
Large tubers (late winter food)
High protein forage (≈30–36%)
Helps deer during harsh winter months
🦌 Why deer love it
They eat it in 2 stages:
Leaves right after sprouting
Roots after cold weather hits
No “learning curve” — deer often hit it almost immediately after it comes up
🌾 Soil & land benefits
Deep taproots:
Break up compacted soil
Improve drainage and aeration
Adds organic matter when roots decompose
👉 Great if you’re improving a future plot (even for planting clover later).
🌽 When to plant (important)
Late summer is key
Typical timing: July–September depending on location
In Michigan:
Late July → mid‑August is usually ideal
🌱 How to plant (simple guide)
1. Prep
Disk/till soil and kill weeds
Soil pH: aim for 6.0–7.5
2. Fertilize
If no soil test:
~100 lbs of 17‑17‑17 per ¼ acre
3. Seed
Broadcast evenly
Do NOT cover the seed (very shallow)
4. Pack
Drag or cultipack for good soil contact
👍 Best uses
✅ Kill plots and hunting plots
✅ Late-season attraction (Oct–Jan)
✅ Soil improvement / rotation plots
✅ Small plots where you want quick results
⚠️ Downsides
Only lasts one season
Needs to be replanted every year
Doesn’t provide spring/summer forage like clover
Works best with good timing and moisture
